The first and the largest mobile telephony operator in Montenegro, Promonte, is the company 100 owned Telenor Mobile Communications AS. In the November of 1995, PTT of Montenegro and European Telecom Luxembourg signed the contract on establishing a limited liability company in the aim of obtaining a mobile telephony license in Montenegro. In the January of 1996, consortium ETL - PTT Montenegro obtained the 20-year concession for establishing GSM 900 mobile network in Montenegro. The first mobile telephony call in Montenegro was made on July 10th, 1996. In the December of 2001, Promonte obtained a fifteen-year license for GSM 900 and DCS 1800. At the same time, PTT of Montenegro sold ETL its 9 of Promonte shares. Today, Promonte provides its customers with secure, simple and high quality communication with family, friends and business partners, both in the country and abroad.
