The NTGTS chapter in the Dallas/Fort Worth area is a dynamic professional organization dedicated to the promotion of dialogue and interaction on the social and business impacts of global telecommunications and associated technologies. This is accomplished through public forums, electronic mail, and social activities. NTGTS seeks to stimulate friendships, professional cooperation, and respect in an attempt to promote cross-cultural developments or commerce. A further goal of the Society is to provide individual members and organizations with information that enables them to take advantage of the developments taking place in the international communications arena.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is the Executive Branch's principal voice on domestic and international telecommunications and information technology issues. NENA's mission is to foster the technological advancement, availability, and implementation of a universal emergency telephone number system. In carrying out its mission, NENA promotes research, planning, training and education. The protection of human life, the preservation of property and the maintenance of general community security are among NENA's objectives. LIF, a global industry initiative, was formed in September 2000 with the purpose of developing and promoting industry common solutions for Location Based Services (LBS). The recommendations of the LIF to the mobile community are both network protocol and positioning technology independent with the goal of addressing interoperability issues and accelerating time to market of location-based services. Membership is open to companies worldwide, including application and content providers, infrastructure vendors, device manufacturers and mobile operators. There are currently over 100 members, and LIF also works with partner organizations within the wireless industry such as the Open GIS Consortium (OGC) and 3GPP. Founding members include Motorola, Ericsson and Nokia.
