
IBBT the Interdisciplinary institute for broadband technology is a research institute founded by the Flemish government in 2004. It is aimed at Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in general and the development of broadband applications in particular. IBBT's mission is to perform demand-driven research programs focused on the development of generic knowledge and company-specific RD-projects with and on the initiative of the industry and the service sector and/or participation in European research programs. Furthermore a research test environment for broadband networks, businesses and companies is provided.

The Inukshuk Wireless broadband network is currently available in 90 centres across Canada (Quebec).
